Kyle Skemer

Fantastic free (!) meditation app. It has a series of suggested meditations/courses, which I actually strongly recommend if you're new to meditation, but you can also go straight to specific meditations for certain scenarios (daily mindfulness, sleep, etc). My only minor complaints are that I wish every course had multiple speaker options, and it had variety in courses outside of the "My Path" route. Otherwise it's basically perfect.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of the messages and meditations in this app. It was a nice combination of scientific/rational underpinnings with stepwise guided practice. The options of timing and voices are nice. I'm glad there aren't a lot of graphics and scrolling options that helps me stay focused on the reason for the practice.

It took me about two years to complete the program (moving slowly through it, only advancing when I was ready) and it is truly transformational. I love this app. I paired it with therapy and love the growth it encourages. Becoming mindful of my thoughts and actions and learning how to ground myself is slowly changing my life.

So far no comparison with a few other meditation apps I've tried. The speakers have a natural, not annoying tone. It includes explaners of the science behind the approach. Great balance of à la carte options with a guided sequence. Science-based, no paywall. (1/2021) Update as of the start of 2025. The world would be a better place if everybody used this free app. Thank you to its creators.

- Really needs an offline mode. Or a way to download sessions. Would greatly benefit during flights or vacations. - Sessions still take forever to load. - Loading of session doesn't not work in the background when the screen is off. You need to keep the screen on and wait for it to load completely before turning off your screen. Information wise, this is a great app. Functionally, it is bad. They don't care about UX.

After decades of searching, the only program that seems to be helping me move toward connecting with the "inner voice" and being more observational about the programming. Definitely feel more in control of my conscious thoughts - it's a long process, and not necessarily a linear one, but more well-being and happiness are worth it!

I have been using this app for about three weeks. So far I have only focused on the meditation content but it's very good. It's a structured course that gives you the "how" and the "why" of meditation. What I most like is that it's very focused and scientific. Other meditation apps were a bit too woo-woo for my taste or they were bloated with reams of content I'm not interested in. This app is just a course that gives you the tools to meditate on your own.

Update: downgraded to 3 stars because half the time, I can't get the app to open anymore. Just when it seemed like they might have fixed the bug causing it to lose my place along the way, now it stops opening altogether! I love this app! It's aided me in getting into a habit of meditation. It's easy to use, has a clear guided path to follow, and doesn't pester me with ads. But, the bugs are annoying!

I appreciate the simplicity and honesty of this app. It's streamlined, the user interface is nice, and it's not cluttered with distracting extra features or stuff that I'm not looking for. I can open the app, do a lesson, then be done. It's easy to see progress, and it's focused on evidence based approaches. Very well designed for those of us with ADHD! I have tried so many meditation apps, but most of them are so stuffed with features and it's too overwhelming. This is the one!!

I had a 185 day streak going and then it froze. Had to uninstall and reinstall and it lost all my data of a total of over 200 days. Used one meditation, and it froze again. And again. My login still exists, but all my stats are back to 0. I can still access all the meditations, as I had completed them all before the crash, but I miss the cumulative data, especially the dates of when I last did each meditation, for reference, and don't want to keep uninstalling each day.

I have been using the Healthy Minds app since early in the pandemic. Unlike many meditation apps, this one walks you through the science of mindfulness. You start with easy exercises and build up to longer, more challenging ones. You can save your favorites to do over and over. I have found so much presence of mind via Healthy Minds. I'm a much calmer, happier, less angry person when I do a daily practice! I recommend it very highly.

This app is one of the best I have listened to. Excellent guided meditation that makes me feel calm. A real person narrates the meditation, my favorite is Cort, and you can pick from three different narrators. Easy to track progress. The app tracks your progress and picks up where you left it. Highly recommend this app.

I love being able to choose the speaker, the length of the mindfulness and meditation practices, as well as if it will be used while active or still. Versatile and totally free. The One thing i think would be cool is if more learning lectures were available as you progress through your storyline. I found them very fascinating they gave good context. I can't say enough about this app. The main session leader, Cortland, is such a clear, calm, easy-going and supportive presence throughout this. The progression of meditations that focus on different skills makes each new session novel, instructive and gives you a sense of growing mastery of this. The short lectures interspersed guide you through what is happening within your brain or will focus on practical ways of applying what you are working on. It's a fantastic app.

This app has changed my life! I am a full time nurse and also caring for my husband with advanced Parkinson's. As a result, I had tremendous amounts of anxiety, fear, anger and grief. Metatation has given me the skill to manage all of that! It resets my emotions. It keeps me calm and centered even on the most challenging days! I'm excited to practice metatation and looking foward to applying it to everyday challenges. My mind is calm, clear, and stable!!!!
